The animal welfare society "Arche" has distinguished the Chairman of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV), Frank Kemperman, with the Aachen Animal Welfare Prize 2010. In this way the society based in Würselen-Euchen is paying tribute to Kemperman's tireless efforts for the well-being of the horses in top sport.
Herwig Faßbender, Chairman of "Arche" stated the reasons for selecting Kemperman as follows: "As is the case with humans, the attributes performance and humanity, elite and social responsibility don't rule each other out, we see the equestrian event in Aachen as a successful interaction between the demands placed in and respect for the animals.
This is what the name Frank Kemperman stands for, not only at the CHIO Aachen, but indeed worldwide." The ALRV asserts itself intensively for fairness vis-à-vis the horse as a partner. For example the ALRV has employed an extra official, who is solely responsible for the area of animal welfare, for years. In Aachen the horses are accommodated in permanent stables with walls, so that an agreeable, constant temperature is guaranteed.
Furthermore, the stables are generously sized. Under the aegis of Kemperman the development of favourable conditions for the horses is permanently addressed (including also the design of the obstacles or the quality of the footing).
Under the guidance of Kemperman the ALRV adopted a clear stance during the doping and medication discussions last year and received in return a lot of praise from the show visitors, media and sponsors. The prize will be handed over on October 10th, in the "Haus der Städteregion" (District Building), the "Arche" society will send out personal invitations for this occasion.
