Not only exciting competitions can be experienced at the CHIO Aachen, from Tuesday onwards the CHIO tent village will be open too – however on the traditional Soers Sunday many marquees already attracted plenty of shoppers. Over 200 tents and more than 160 international exhibitors are found in the CHIO village, a variety of gastronomy tents additionally offer culinary delights.
The Soers Sunday has been part of the CHIO Aachen’s fixed programme since 1998. It is their “Open Day”, when both young and old are invited to the showgrounds. An interesting line-up including among others the “red devils”, the “Satellite” pony quadrille, Island horses on the catwalk, provided entertainment the whole day long.
After the “Bow of Life“ ecumenical religious service in the Deutsche Bank Stadium the Soers Sunday was traditionally opened with the tapping of the Warsteiner Barrel ceremony at 1 pm. ALRV President, Klaus Pavel, was lucky enough to be handed the first cool glass of beer on this extremely hot day. The event was accompanied by the impressive Warsteiner carriage as well as the Aachener Stadtreiter (Aachen City Riders).
Frank Kemperman, Chairman of the ALRV, hat already taken a stroll around the CHIO tent village. His first impression: “It is fantastic that so many people have accepted our invitation to the Soers Sunday in spite of the extreme heat. The vaulting competitions already began on Friday and I am looking forward to further thrilling show days.“
On Tuesday this year’s CHIO Aachen will be officially opened by the Federal Chancellor, Dr. Angela Merkel. Tickets are still available for almost all events.
